Major Russian Strikes Cut Power In Kyiv

Energy infrastructure under attack in the region
The country's energy systems have faced escalating strikes in the past few days

During the night, Moscow's aerial assaults have caused electricity outages in multiple districts of Ukraine's capital, Kyiv.

A number of civilians were hurt while local people in eastern districts were plunged into darkness and dealt with problems to water systems, according to municipal leaders.

Simultaneously, a minor was lost their life in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, based on information from area administrators.

Moscow has escalated attacks on energy facilities over the past few days, while Ukrainian leadership has demanded "substantial measures" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not symbolic gestures but firm measures - from the United States, the EU and the Group of Seven - in supplying defensive weapons and enforcing sanctions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that 450 drones and more than 30 missiles struck energy facilities, describing such assaults as "premeditated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as temperatures become colder.

The energy minister said Russia was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were striving to repair systems.

A wave of strikes hit power facilities and residential structures in Kyiv.

Multiple people wounded in the assaults on the capital have been hospitalized, according to local officials.

Local officials said the metropolitan region experienced heavy assaults overnight. A minor was killed and multiple civilians were wounded.

The attacks come after nights of air raids in the area, portions of which are occupied by Russian forces.

The entire country is in a state of readiness for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to identify.

Government officials told journalists that Moscow was deliberately attempting to damage the electrical infrastructure, with attacks already affecting energy systems.

He said energy workers and officials were anticipating additional strikes.
