'It's like they never miss a pass': The Swans' Ethan Galbraith continues contest with Manchester City.

Ethan Galbraith can't help but smile as he recalls the dramatic dying seconds of his team's remarkable turnaround win against Nottingham Forest in the Carabao Cup. The game wrapped up with Galbraith briefly donning a spectator's eyewear following the pitch-side pile-on.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith cracked the upright with a speculative shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly hammered in the rebound before charging toward the East Stand to celebrate, with fans mobbing the players.

Stunning Reversal

The victory completed an incredible turnaround given the team had trailed 2-0 midway through the second half. Amid the euphoria, there was some unintended consequences. Galbraith explained, "There was a fan shouting out and we were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we spotted the glasses. It was a bit of banter putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're humans, too, so to have a laugh with the fans is always good."

Pep Guardiola Test

That win earned a next round game at home against Pep Guardiola's side on Wednesday, a club Galbraith pushed hard at the equivalent round of the FA Cup with the London side in February. The athletic midfielder had arguably the best view when Orient took the lead in stunning style, with the attacker's volley from about 45 yards going in via the bar and the opposition keeper. It seems unfair that it was deemed an own goal.

"You would have wished they would've credited him for having a go from that range," stated Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right wing-back after they changed formation. That meant getting to grips with the England international, with whom he exchanged jerseys, and the player was among the City players who paid tribute to the way his former team approached the match.

Opponent's Class

"Physically they are outstanding but even the simple things and basic skills, they can just perform consistently," the midfielder notes. "It feels like they complete every delivery and they understand how to dictate and slow down a game. You can believe you're doing well and then without warning they will just deliver a through ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be switched on throughout of the game. It demands a tough attitude and concentration just to remain competitive."

Welsh Transition

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and secured his signature to secure him in the summer in a £1.5m deal. He became a favorite as a popular figure across a couple of years at Leyton Orient and has swiftly achieved similar status in Wales. At Orient he linked up again with Richie Wellens, who four years ago gave Galbraith his first extended run in first-team action on loan at a League One side from United. Then came a temporary move at League Two Salford, before he permanently left Old Trafford.

Development Path

"I was likely a bit naive going into senior level. I think numerous professionals would say youth team games is completely distinct. Sometimes it seems possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many physical contests. Once you start playing first-team football you have to adjust fast."

National Team Success

He has demonstrated that maturation for his team and nation, shining for the Green and White Army, who remain in contention for the international competition next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches games against the German national team. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's previous international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "little Iniesta or Xavi" given how he controls possession and his ability to spot a killer pass.

Humble Beginnings

This marks quite the ride for the player from the local area in Glengormley, just outside the capital, who used to see his father, Stuart, also a engine room operator, play for a local club.

Manchester United Experience

His only game for United came in the away trip in 2019, a continental tournament trip to Astana, where they featured on an artificial pitch and the venue ceiling was closed owing to the weather of freezing cold. "This represented a lengthy journey and it was chilly," he recalls, grinning. "The week before, the academy prospects trained together, so that aided our adjustment. Just to join the main group and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

What was the challenge was it to depart Manchester United, the club he signed from his boyhood team aged 16? "This turned out quite easy, because I arrived at the moment where I realized I wasn't going to make it at the top level. I'm very appreciative for the years at the club but it became apparent where I believed I needed to go my own route, move to a lower level and play men's football. Now I'm slowly working my way back up."

Welsh Adaptation

It is the middle of the day at the team's practice facility but Galbraith has an appointment at the early evening: a learner's exam, another move in the direction of getting on the road. Prior to relocating to the local area, the young professional was a regular in Swansea's dubbed player transport, a team vehicle driven by team personnel, the drivers, which ferries players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, Ronald, the midfielder – a former passenger used to be in it but has begun using his own car. It's enjoyable to interact with the lads but I'm hoping to be the following person out of the minibus and behind the wheel. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's frequently playing tricks."

Fan Interactions

When he represented his former club, Galbraith would blend in with fans on public transport after starting his journey at Brentwood. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
