19 of Daniil Medvedev's 21 titles have been won on hard courts
A resurgent Medvedev claimed his first title for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the tournament final.
The athlete, a former world number one, has had a challenging season, achieving just a single victory at the major tournaments and undergoing a difficult moment at the New York tournament.
The player's varied form on the ATP Tour - and difficulties with his serving in especial - caused him falling of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time mentor Cervara.
Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, he has steadily progressed in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over Frenchman Corentin Moutet.
It is Medvedev's maiden title following the Italian tournament and initial on a hard surface after that period of the previous year.
The win also signifies the Russian has achieved 21 championships at twenty-one distinct competitions.
"This marks the first occasion I'm at a competition with my two daughters together, so to secure a championship is really nice," commented ranked player Daniil Medvedev.
"This victory is in dedication of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I achieved when my child Alisa was born was for her."
Medvedev, the former major winner, had lost his past six title deciders, including in Halle in the past months.
The player's defensive approach and recurring outbursts on the playing surface had caused observers to question if his skill to compete at the elite level was finished.
However the athlete has altered his approach in recent weeks, striving to come to the net and perform aggressively, backed up by an improved service.
The champion came back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Frenchman, securing four of the final five points to take the lead.
Both players traded break points in the middle set before the challenger, bidding for his first ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.
He defended four early break points in a close deciding set before the champion won the break to fifteen to secure the win.
Fittingly, Medvedev earned victory with a shot at the front of the court, with the Frenchman unable to handle a shot after a lengthy match.
